Mom tool box: when kids are sick

mom tool box sick kids Oct 29, 2021

I have 5 kids so it seemed like someone was always sick.

I want to empower you as a mother or caretaker of little ones that you can care for your littles well, with confidence. Sickness used to be something I feared. I didn't know what to do, how to care for them well. I didn't have tools on my shelf to reach for in the middle of the night. I felt alone and dependent on others. Don't get me wrong, I am so grateful for the medical advances we have had and there is a time and a place for modern medicine! You do not have to choose between homeopathic care and modern medicine! You can choose both! I am here to help you have tools on your shelf, learn how to use them with confidence and when to ask for help.

I have been asked so much lately what I do when my kids are sick. So I'm going to share about the tools I keep on my shelf and how I use them for sick kids.

If you are just starting with oils and supplements in your home please do not feel overwhelmed. It's a lot of information! Just take baby steps. It takes time to learn and collect all the tools you need. Let me know if you need any help!

Ok so what do I do if one of the kids starts to get sick?

  • First off diffuse oils! I diffuse oils that help reduce the chance of the bug spreading to others in the house. Thieves, Raven, Christmas Spirit, Frankincense, Lemon, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Sniffleease...so many good ones so grab what you have and get them going!
  • Start immune support with capsules or rollers. If your little one is old enough for (capsules) I highly recommend them! If not make an (immunity roller) and apply to feet and spine. The trick for either is start them early and use them often!
  • Detox baths! Did you know that many of the symptoms we experience are from the virus dying off? That's why detox baths are so effective! (Some of my favorite bath recipes)
  • Nutrient boosts!! We take vitamins casually around here but really use them during sickness. Vitamin C, vitamin D, and of course our favorite (ningxia!!)
  • Hydrate! It's not enough to just drink more water. It is vital to increase electrolytes and minerals as well. We love vitality drops as a clean and sugar free way to get more water and electrolytes in. So yummy and I actually crave it now. We get minerals in with  mineral essence in the baths.
  • Clean all the surfaces! I use (thieves cleaner). It's plant based and so effective at killing off all those germs without adding to the toxic load our bodies carry.
  • Make sure they are getting good sleep! Detox baths before bed, sleep oils in the diffuser and feet. Some favorites of ours are peace and calming, citrus fresh and cedarwood, lavender and cedarwood, rutavala, and sleepyize.  Magnesium before bed  ( I love unwind for this!). Immupro is a great supplement that boosts immunity, promotes sleep with a little melatonin, it's like magic. I use half for my youngest and my big boys get a whole capsule.

Brand new and wanting oils? Here is a video on the kit I would recommend starting with. It's the best price and comes with oils to help with almost anything you will encounter with your little one! (link)

Wondering what I do prophylactically?

or for:

Ear support

Respiratory support

Poison Oak

Allergies

Tummy Issues

Muscle aches

Headaches

Stress

Sleep

Cough

Sniffles

Croup

Asthma

I'd also recommend a good thermometer, pulse ox, and a nebulizer.
